The art of concrete
Film · July 24, 2026
Concrete looks simple: grey, heavy, poured. On a tower it is choreography. The mixers arrive in a rhythm set by the pump, the line climbs the core with the formwork, and on the deck a crew of six spreads, vibrates and levels a floor before the mix starts to set. Miss a beat and the pour stops; hit every beat and the tower gains a storey.
We filmed one of those pours from the deck of The BaanTower, with the Rijnhaven and the Rotterdam skyline as backdrop. Forty seconds of the craft that is usually hidden inside the walls: the trucks queuing at the gate, the grey pouring into the hopper, the crew in RED at work, and the tower seen from above with the city behind it.
Every week a floor. Every floor an art.
