Where culture meets architecture
We joined forces with artist Joep van Lieshout (Atelier Van Lieshout) to build a large-scale cultural cluster with homes, offices and services in Rotterdam’s up-and-coming M4H port area. BRUTUS breaks the mould of art as a gentrification accelerator. The project, with its highly recognisable artistic silhouettes, becomes a venue where an attractive and inspiring living and working environment is created.
A gift to the city of Rotterdam
With BRUTUS, Rotterdam gains a new exhibition space, a museum, a sculpture garden, artists and scientists in residence, a project space, studios, homes and a gastronomic offering in the emerging Merwe-Vierhavens area. BRUTUS is a complex of buildings, art and creativity. For the international art professional and for the people of Rotterdam. It is wonder and amazement. It is fun and food for thought. Thirty-five years of Van Lieshout
In BRUTUS, homes and museums intertwine to form a new gesamtkunstwerk. BRUTUS is the first place where the oeuvre of Van Lieshout, built up in the M4H area of Rotterdam over the past 35 years and still growing, can be experienced in its entirety.
